Willi Winkels: Remembering The Legend

About This Project

Share your stories, pictures, and memories of (Wee) Willi Winkels!

Most locals in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, could point out Willi Winkels in a crowd, and he was known and cherished by many across North America. He spent his entire life inventing new technologies, manufacturing, and testing products. His innovations in skateboarding and snowboarding impacted companies and athletes in the 70s, 80s and beyond. Willi's work was integral in the development of the flexible skateboard, creation of a portable half pipe, early snowboard development, and he was also involved in early wakeboarding.

Share your stories, pictures, and memories of Willi, and you'll help to shine a spotlight on his life, his inventions, and his impact far and wide.
